I hope someone can help me with this, I'm stumped!
I changed the alternator after hearing it run making a whining noise and the transmission would shift to 30mph when braked in gear or neutral. I did some searching and read someone had an issue with the car doing this and the alternator was at fault. I started the car and pulled the field wire and the engine idled down smooth and I drove it back and forth in the driveway and held the brake in gear and all seemed well, so the alternator was flipping it out.
I then pulled the neg cable and switched out the alternator. After it was complete I tried to turn the key and nothing.. I could hear some clicking in the TIPM, I checked the starter fuse, it was fine.I checked the starter housing for ground it was fine. I checked the ignition side of the starter relay and pin 30 12.5v, with key turned to start the ground pin 85 reading 5v, pin 86 and 87 0v. I jumped 30>87 with ignition on to try and start it... it turned over but no start.. Didn't sound like it was getting spark or fuel just a free spinning engine. I installed 4g ground from the terminal to the shifter bracket and still the same.
I have tried to put the key in and pull the IOD fuse for 1 min, I also pulled both cables and connected them together for a few mins (5-10)
It seems like the security system might be shutting it down? I don't see any light on the dash for it..
I did think I hit the panic button on the remote right after I installed the starter and I immediately hit door unlock. Everything inside the car works.. except the interior lights when you open the door. I can manually turn them on hitting the buttons on the roof and the dash does display door ajar.
Any help appreciated, my buddy has 3 kids and this is their only car... just trying to help them out.
