2022 Pacifica, 1 year old needs new transmission. 3 month wait with no loaner
Hi everyone,
We bought a brand new 2022 Chrysler Hybrid PHEV right off the lot. We chose the van because we owned a 2005 Town and Country until it died in 2022. It was a sad day, we really loved that van.
There have been a few problems with the new van, but for the most part we really like it. Until it started giving us the "Stop Safely, Vehicle will shut off soon" message. The dealership said there was a special policy (xe1) in place to replace the transmission and it could not be driven until it is replaced. However the transmission is backordered and we are over 450 down the line. The earliest estimate for getting a transmission means we will be out of a vehicle for 3+ months. Which would be an annoyance if not for the fact that Chrysler is only offering us 10 days of rental reimbursement. I have been on the phone multiple times with Chrysler's oxymoronically named "Customer Care" for them to tell me that they can't help me. When I asked to speak to someone who could help I was told they would have to call me back, over a week ago. So now I'm fed up and I will be telling this story to anyone thinking about buying a Chrysler. They used to be good but now are trash and don't care at all about their customers.
1) We are paying $850+ a month for a 1 year old car we can't use.
2) There are over 450 people ahead of us waiting for a transmission. This amounts to at least 3 months (if we get it when they are projecting, not likely).
3) There is a special policy (xe1) for this issue dating back to 2016. Chrysler has known about the issue for 7 years and is still having the problem.
4) Chrysler is offering 10 days of a rental car, ignoring the other 80+ days we will be without transportation.
5) Chrysler has stopped producing quality vehicles, they know it and have stopped providing any measure of care to their customers.
You can check into a lemon law claim. In my state, if the vehicle is out of service for an issue for at least 36 days, you can proceed with action. They would be required to buy the vehicle back from you.
