I currently working on a 2005 Chrysler Pacifica for my neighbor. The ASD fuse keeps blowing. I moved the wires to the battery around a little bit ( took wires loose from terminals cleaned them up and put them back on) and put in a new fuse and then started the vehicle. I thought everything was fine so I sent it back to my neighbor who was pretty excited to have it back. Later that evening I get a phone call from my neighbor that the vehicle is back to doing the same thing again and is stuck on the side of the road. As soon as I got to the vehicle I checked the ASD fuse first and sure enough it was blowed again. So I done the same thing again and it worked so I brought it back to my house. I don't want to send it back to my neighbor again without knowing for sure its fixed.
I need a wiring diagram for the fuse box and some pointers as to what wires I need to check. I believe there is a short somewhere in the wiring, although I'm not sure on how to track it down due to me not being familiar with wiring.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you.
Phil
Attached is some (if not most) of the ASD wiring, connector, splice info. On page 4 there is a "fork in the road", take the appropriate fork depending on if you have the 3.5L or 3.8L engine. Tracking intermittent electrical issues can be tedious.
I have not experience with that ASD devil myself. The only suggestion I will make is pray the short becomes permanent, so that you can track down.
One way to track down a vehicle short is via the "car horn" method. Simply insert a junk-yard car horn in the circuit, in place of the "blowing" fuse. (pack rags in said car horn to keep your hearing and sanity) Horn will be blowing while short in in place, go thru system disconnecting, moving/shaking wires, etc till car horn shuts up. Problem usually located.
Gut luck!
