Question Engine dying

This morning, the car died a few times on my way to work. I turned around after the first time and was able to get it back home. It is a 2007 Touring, 2wd with the 4.0. It would restart if I held the accelerator down and kept it reving high. At first I thought it may be the fuel filter, it has 65000 miles on it, but after reading on here about the filters, not sure if that is the problem. Anyone else had any issues like this? Any thoughts on what the issue is?

I talked with a local mechanic. The car showed no codes, so he thought it may have dirty injectors. Had me add a bottle of 3M fuel system cleaner and it seems to be running pretty good now.
