Default Factory DvD on 05 Pacifica

I just bought a used 05 Pacifica Touring. I have played around with the DVD player but cannot get backups of DVD discs to be reconized by the DVD player. I am using a DVD-R for the videos. Any one make backup of DVD's and get them to work in the factory DVD player? I hate using the new copies b/c the kids do not care for them and they get all scratched up.

When you say back up what do you mean? Are you making a copy of the DVD? Do they play in your standard home DVD player? It could be how you're making the copies.

Yes I have no problem playing them in the home player. I have to use DVD-R's tho for it to work. I just cannot get them to read in the Pacifica DVD player in the Pacifica.

Coma,
I checked a few of my DVD's this afternoon. one DVD-R worked. One +R did not. Another DVD-R did not work then after I ejected and inserted it back in, it worked. I did not check the +R again to see of it would play.

One thing I notice is that it takes quite a bit of time to read the home burnt disks before they play. Mine is an 04 w/ the RBP radio (Intermezzo version) and 6 disk DVD w/ IR headphone system if that helps.

As mrfixit454 stated it might be the type of disc you're using. Also some brands of discs might work better than others, I've seen this happen before.

Don't know about just the pacifica dvd player, but a lot of machines won't play dvds that are burned because they are dvd+ or dvd-. The factory dvds are made as advd rom and most all players will play them. I had the same problem with my dvd player in my 02 Montana. I bought new burner for my computer and it came with software that will let you burn a copy of a factory dvd on to an DVD+ and you can booktype it to burn as a DVD ROM.

My burner is a benq and it comes with a software program called Q-Suite and it has a setting to booktype all DVD + to DVD ROM. You can only Booktype DVD+ not DVD-. So you need to by DVD+ media copy it in your benq burner, you can use dvd clone, dvd shrink or what ever other burning software you have. But put the DVD+ blank in the Benq and have your Q-Suite set to booktype DVD+ media to DVD rom and they should all play in your pacifica, I have not found a player yet that won't play a burned DVD set up as a DVD ROM.

You can do a search on the internet on the benq dvd burner and Q-suite. A good source of information can be found on www.cdfreaks.com

Hope that helps.

i've heard from techs that the darker the disc is you burn on the better.i've tested this, and found that if you write on the lighter dvd's with a pen ,that the player will skip over the pen mark.when used in most car players.think it has to do with density<might be spelled wrong moe
