It cant be removed, its a piece of cast iron that is part of the calliper, it just grabes the inside edge of the rotor.

 

I finaly got it off, I think there was just too much dirt and rust on evrything for it to come off smoothly, I live on a dirt road. Thanks for all the help.

 

I usually get a big screwdriver & GENTLY pry between the metal part of the brake pad & the rotor letting the pad push the piston back slightly, enough to clear the ridge left by wear on the rotor. I've done hundreds of disc brake jobs & this has always worked for me

 

So, how did you end up getting the rear caliper off? Was it just brute force? I'm getting ready to do the rears on my '04 Pacifica tonight.
