Short natural rain test today, just long enough to get a couple of drops under the dash but the A pillar opening down by the lower door hinge as shown in the pic had a couple of spoonfulls of new water inside. The under the dash leak usually takes longer than aprox 20 minutes to show up. Maybe because it is such a small leak or it takes enough water to build up to get out or...... ? Water on the extreme pass side that is directed off by the cowl cover and tries to go out under the fender may be finding a body seam place to get in. May have to remove the wheel liner to get a better look. Most auto parts stores have seam sealer of some sort. Any brand that might be a favorite ? Still more work to do. Thanks. B2

 

I'm leaning towards it being a seal also.
I had an idea.
Remove the wheel liner, and spray everything that you can with that spray seal that you see advertised on TV, after first filling any gaps with a regular automotive seam sealer.
Then if it is a small leak, the spray seal should deal with it.

 

Thanks again Bili, sure wish some others would chime in too. Must be some others that have looked into these body places also. Have heard varied reports on the Flex Seal product. A favorite is Dow #732. In industrial work it has been seen to stick to a oily surface because of the acid it has inside to help it adhere and never gets hard but stays firm rubber like but is hard to find. "A" pillar leak work today. Removed front wheel and fender liner first thing noticed was that the foam deflector may have been out of the proper location for who knows how long. One pic is looking inside behind the fender. This first pic should be near vertical, and a plug can be seen as well as the flexible cover for the door mirror wiring where it goes inside the cabin. Could not easily locally get the favorite Dow 732 sealant . Did seal both areas and a couple of other places as well. Appears by design the water that is directed to both ends of the cowl cover and some goes down near the top inside of the fenders. The foam should help direct it down and out the bottom. Our misplaced foam may have let it get in thru other places. Next pic shows the shape and contour of the foam. Expecting rain late tonight or during tomorrow, just in time for another test. Don't see how this will affect the under dash leak but strange things can happen. Any comments ? B2

 

 

Hopefully you see no water anymore, and that turned out to be the problem.

Sorry but couple of other pics didn't show up with this one. I'll make the post much shorter and say FINALLY we have stopped the leak to under the dash. The large drain tube thru the floor of the cowl was out of place leaving a gap that let slow moving water surface tension curl around thru it and down behind the silver insulation on the firewall and thru to the inside. Used a industrial favorite Dow 732 sealant. Glad to have fixed the problem as well as found the reason. Thanks for all the views and to those with a suggestion. Ask anything. B2
