Default Won't go passed 3rd gear when tranny is hot.

My 08 Pacifica has a 6 speed transmission and I noticed on long trips and driving around town for any length of time without turning the engine off, will not go passed 3rd gear unless I use the Autostick. While driving around town with friends for an hour or more non stop, I had to use the auto stick continually to get into 4th gear and above. If I let the engine cool for 30 - 40 minutes the problem goes away until hot again. Any help out there?

Check the level and condition of the fluid to start. If that turns out okay, then you need to get it to someone with a sophisticated code reader to look for error codes stored in the trans computer. Not any code reader is capable of digging deep into the trans. A good transmission shop should be able to do so. Those code readers are expensive so they will probably charge you a diagnosis fee. Some shops will eat that if you choose to have them do the repairs.
