Running Rough After New Cylinder Head
I needed to replace the cylinder head on my 2002 PT Cruiser. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get it finished for several months after disassembly. I got it all back together and started it up yesterday. It run rough at idle, but is relatively smooth at higher RPM. It doesn't back fire. I am concerned that maybe I didn't get the timing right. Is there an easy way to check this or whatever might be going on? I hope that I can access the timing belt without having to entirely disassemble the front of the motor. Appreciate help.
I was able to get the timing marks exposed. It appear the left cam is one tooth "up" and the right cam is one tooth above that. Should be enough to damage a valve, but could make it run roughly?
I removed all the stuff in the way and reset the timing belt. It was off by 1 tooth on one cam and 2 teeth on the other. Trying to put it back together and, after trying for hours, cannot get the belt to go over the tensioner. Tried inserting the pin, etc, but no luck. Getting desperate. HELP!!!!!!
