Default "Check engine" is on

Hi all

I've some troubles with my Chrysler Voyager 2.5 GPL
The "check gages" indicator blinked sometimes.
Now, the "check engine" indicator is always ON and the "check gages" sometimes is ON.
I've just changed the motor oil and the level is perfect.
I have to change the Cold Liquid (liquid cooler), but the level is still good anyway.

I think it could come from the power stearing (which often makes noise when turning the wheel, just after the starting for example), but I don't know how to read the ODB ?
I've been adviced to action 3 times the key before starting but neither the "check gages" or "check engine" indicator blink...

Any ideas on how to read the OBD before operating ?

In advance, thanks a lot.
Yom

which model of the car, what year?
what kind of engine is that? is it really 2,5 or newer 2,4?
what type of GPL system do you have and who made it?
how many km's you made on GPL?
have you made any services on GPL system? when?

Thanks for the answer. I will try to answer to the questions as good as I can.

The car is Chrysler Voyager SE 2.5 from 1991 (no very brand new one !!!)
The engine seems to be a real 2.5
The GPL system has been added in december 2000, in France. A Ecogas Blos kit has been added. I can read on the bill :
- Vafo fox 2000
- Kit Blos Ecogas
- Commutator TB univers
- FO AV
- Reserve 5fl ext

40 000 km only has been made since this installation. But when opening the engine door, the system looks old...

As I own this car 2 years ago, I can say NO service on GPL has been made since 2 years !
Yesterday I use on unloaded. I thought the trouble could come from the GPL system. Nothing change, the "Check engine" always ON.

Is that correct with my answers ?

yes, it's a real 2,5 liter engine.

there are 2 basic types of GPL.
1. multipoint, where each cylinder has it's own GPL injector
2. singlepoint, there is one piece on the intake manifold (looks like muffler) through which all cylinders get their fuel.

first one is controlled by car's own and GPL computer, second one is mainly controlled by O2 sensor.
I don't know do you have an O2 sensor (maybe even 2 of them) on that car, so please check and tell me.

BLOS is a singlepoint device and works well.
but, like all systems, it needs service.

what you have to do is:
-make a service on GPL system.
-install new filter for gaseus part
-clean the evaporator from debrie and tar
-adjust mixture of GPL and air (should be done by exhaust gas tester)

this may not help (but it might) with "check engine" light, but you have to do it anyway.
after this service, if "CE" problem still exists, we'll try something else.

All right and thank you "I wonder" for this help !
I've to go to the garage so, no way to make on my own...
How often should I do this service ? Every 2 years, every 20 000km (15 000 miles) ?
I've bought this van on 2006 july, but I've done no service on it cause I just use it to carry woods (I mean well cut woods !!!).
As I build my house, I'm also using it for short distances between home and shops. 30km (20 miles) is the max distance I do with it, once a week...

On a french forum, I've been adviced 2 weeks ago to turn the key tree times before starting and notice the sequence of blinking indicators. But none blinks !
Is there any other key game to play on such a vehicule to view those codes ?

first of all, I don't know procedure for geting codes on your car.
but it might help, if you want to solve the problem with "CE" light.

it all depends if you have O2 sensor or not.
you most probably need to change it, but we'll see.

any other changes in driving?
stalling? missfires? detonations? rough idle? excessive fuel consumtion?
idle too high? bad acceleration?

why do you care about CE if you use that car as a pulling tractor?
drive it till it dies, than sell it for parts.
