Default 2000 T&C air cond. compressor

Hi, I just learned that the air cond. compressor is shot on my 2000 T&C. the dealer said that to replace it and recharge the system will start at about $800. I found a new compressor with a clutch and a new dryer at a local auto parts store for about 275. a seal kit also for $5. so how big of a job is it?? are there any tricks that I should be aware of?? I really dont want to put alot of $$ into this car, but I do know how to fix things. any help would be greatly welcomed!!

I am replacing the compressor on my 98 T&C due to the clutch failing. The vehicle has 200K miles on it so since I am already there it makes sense to change the compressor also. Its worth the extra money. A clutch by itself is like $120. For $295 I bought a complete kit. I got a brand new compressor with clutch. Receiver dryer which needs to be changed anytime you change the compressor. Kit also came with expansion device, o-ring kit and oil.
I got mine from discountacparts.com and am impressed so far with their site and their service. You were asking about tips? Go to their learning center.. They have videos on how to do each step.. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
