Front Suspension Knocking.
Hi Simon142,
Sorry but I can't help laughing at your misfortune, Why, because it happened to me this year. Bought a 2003 Crd Voyager from a dealer, private sale, no come back, MOT'D that day. Drove it home and guess what, knocking front suspension.
I renewed anti roll bar links, Control arms and anti-roll bar rubber mounts which removed the knocking. But I found some answers.
As too the Links; one was on way out.
Control Arms; they were found to be ok after removal and on checking past MOT'S that I found out about too late, they had been replaced 20,000mls ago.
Anti roll bar Rubber mounts, from Latvia, right maker, the bar was loose in rubbers. Does this cause a knock, plausible.
One thing I did find that caused a knock was one of the Control arms (offside) the front mount bolt was a tad loose.
Answer to me was Links, quite cheap. Anti-rollbar Rubbers, cheap and from Latvia. That front Control Arm mount bolt.
To hell with it I just replaced everything, so shouldn't get any MOT failures for a few years.
Oh and control arm ball joint separates with a tappered punch, so simple.
Goggs..

I'm afraid the Cradle holds the arm in place, but you shouldn't need to drop it, just slacken bolts enough to get it out. Think bolts around your arm have to come out though. Try a squirt Fairy on rubber on refit.
