the other morning I punched the gas lightly to get thou a intersection, shortly after doing this my rpms went up and then I started to slow down to a stop, tried to put it in reverse and the van would not go, so I restarted the van and put it into drive it would go for a little bit then it would do the same thing still no reverse since I hit the gas to get thou a traffic light before it turned red. the transmission was rebuilt 3years and 4months ago when the van had 165k on it and now it has about 216k on it. im not sure how to fix this issiue

 

1st thing is to have any fault codes read. If no fault codes or you can't get the codes read then change the fluid and filter.

I'm assuming that you haven't changed the fluid of filter since the rebuild? if so you are definitely due a change anyway.

Another thing to do so you don't end up with a red face is to reset the control micros by disconnecting the battery -ve lead and putting it to the +ve pole for a minute or so. Then reconnect.
This will discharge any capacitors in the micro's power supply network achieving a proper reset.
If this restores normal autobox operation, you must look elesewhere for the problem. It will be of an electrical nature. If it does not restore normal operation the fault will be of a mechanical/hydraulic nature, certainly the ATF fluid/filters be the 1st. place to look.
A trawl through this website should produce more data re. autobox faults.
