Default 2008 GV Water leak help

Hello, Newbie here.
I have a water leak from the pipe indicated by the arrow. This pipe goes all round the engine to get to this rubber pipe where it joins (The other end also joins a rubber pipe).
Other than transport water I dont know what this pipes does or where it goes. can someone please answer the following for me?
1. does this pipe feed anything else in between the two rubber bits of pipe either end?
2. whats the pipe called and can i get a replacement for it?
3. is it as big job?
or finally
4. can i replace the metal pipe with some hose which i can place around the engine (by pass the metal pipe).

apologies the picture is small, its the only one i could find showing the pipe. This is not my picture, it was found on the interwebby :-)

Many Thanks for any comments.

So, I have the offending pipe out of my car....
Here it is, you can see the holes where it was leaking from, thankfully this pipe does not feed any other engine components and runs straight through.

and the holes (3 of them)

Would still like to know if anyone knows the part name for this pipe?
Id like to replace with an original but need to know what to look for.

Thanks
Manimal
