Default 2008 T&C 4.0L power steering hose replacement

Hey guys,

The power steering line on our '08 T&C with the 4.0L engine is leaking at the connection of the rubber hose and the crimp fitting which is located near where the line goes into the rack. The line comes through the engine bay then around front down low between the front grill and the a/c condenser before coming up to the ps reservoir. Does anyone know if the radiator/a/c condensor needs to be removed/moved to be able to get the ps line out or is there a trick to the removal of the ps line without needing to disturb the condenser/radiator situation. Thanks for any help on what kind of time we're looking at to do this, typically, too.

It's a slight drip right now but has covered the lower K arm area. Fluid still above the need to add line. Any idea if these types of leaks at the crimp can hold on for awhile or just tend to blow off suddenly. Can't get to the repair right now so it would be nice to know if we have time. Thanks.

The return line comes as two separate parts, if yours is only leaking at the crimp near the rack you can replace just the part that connects to the rack.

That line in relatively short and connects to the "power steering return cooler line" just under the battery.

See items 1 and 2 here: 2008 Chrysler Town & Country FWD, 4.0L V6 SOHC, 6-Speed Automatic 62TE Power Steering Hoses

That would be awesome! Did not relish a complete replacement from end to end and wasn't aware it came in sections. This line enters the ps reservoir above the other line. Is this line that enters the reservoir above the other, then, the return line? And the one below is the high pressure line?

The top line at the reservoir is the "return cooler line", the lower hose is the power steering pump supply line. The high pressure line goes from the power steering pump to the rack.

At the rack the top line is the return line and the bottom line is the pressure line.

See the following diagrams:

Thanks for the great info. Now just need the weather in the Boston area to get a bit warmer and snow free to tackle this. Hope it holds on until such time! Any thoughts on the best tool to use to remove the line going into the rack without ruining the rack fitting? And, haven't seen, but any idea what the other end of the line terminates as? Thanks for any knowledge on this.

A flare nut wrench would be best, but I was able to remove mine with an open end wrench.

The other end fits into a rubber hose with a standard spring clamp.
