2008 T&C belt squeal
Hey guys,
Could really use your help on a problem that's been occurring for quite awhile.
Whenever the a/c compressor is running and we turn the steering wheel full left or right and contact the stops, a loud squeal/chirping is heard from the underhood area. The serp belt and tensioner have been replaced four times over the years and the problem goes away for about 4-5 months (about 4000-5000 mi) then returns. The most recent occurence began in early Feb (the belt and tensioner were previously replace in Nov 2015 and prior to that in July 2015 by the same dealer). We explained the situation to the dealer again and, upon diagnosing the problem, the service manager (a new person since Dec 2015) told the service advisor to inform us that there is nothing wrong with the belt or tensioner or anything else and the noise is normal whenever you turn the steering wheel like that and contact the stops that the noise will occur.
Does this sound normal to you guys? None of my other vehicles do that. Does anyone have a T&C that does that? Why doesn't it occur when the a/c compressor is off? Why does the problem resolve for awhile after the replacement? If that wasn't the issue, the problem shouldn't go away after the belt and tensioner replacement, right? I think the dealer didn't want to deal with it anymore and gave us the brush off so they wouldn't have to fix it again on them (they replaced the combo in Nov on them as they had just replaced them in July previously). Thanks if anyone has any input and suggestions which would help greatly. Contacted Chrysler and they said there were no recalls or TSB's on this. Thanks for any help.

This belt combo gets me, why change tensioner every time, must be a Chrysler money train thing. So just change the belt next time. Anyway sounds like you have slippery smooth groves in your serpentine pulley wheels, probably due to slipping over a long time. So its a case of roughing up the pulley grove faces or fit a new belt every few months.
