I've read quite a few stories about the diesel engines shutting off due to dirty injectors or fuelrail pressurization issues. Just another idea to consider, if you will. However, those issues usually cause other side effects as well, the most typical of which to mention would be difficulty to start the engine after it has warmed up a little bit (5-10 mins of driving).

Dirty injectors could be one factor on the other hand in case most of that mileage has been short trip driving when you are not able to let the engine warm up properly before turning it off again. Of course, this is more an issue of a diesel engine and as you didn't mention your engine type, it can also well be that you're running on gasoline. There are pretty cheap injector cleaning additives that you just pour into your fuel tank and it'll do its trick while you drive. The prices are not too bad either: In Finland (expensive country) they are around 8 euros "per doze" so they're probably less than than where you live.

About the wiring loom. I've suffered the wiring loom problems two years until this summer I took one of the old wiring harnesses and rewired them using silicone insulated wire. That should be much better than the original vinyl insulation, as the vinyl tends to harden up over time and once it does that, it will crack after which every time the wire gets bent, it will eventually break the copper. Here's a pic what will happen with the vinyl-insulated wires:

Just an update to this thread. The vehicle started to shutoff more consistently while driving about a month ago. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed the issue as a failed EGR valve. They did not state if it was stuck open or closed. After the EGR was replaced and a carbon clean the vehicle has been stable again. Car was around 90k when the EGR was replaced. Car is in the shop now getting the recall done for the ignition and 100k service...fingers crossed no more issues

I know for a fact if the actual EGR* valve on a 2.8 diesel is jammed shut, the effect on the engine, starting etc. is absolutely imperceptible to the driver.
If it jams open, there are going to be all sorts of issues, like manifold vacuum disappearing via the open hole (and made worse by exhaust pressure). This will confuse the microprocessor control no end. I should imagine something similar with a petrol engine.
*Not to be confused with the vacuum EGR control valve.
