My wife went in the store and left my daughter in the van with it running. when my wife came out of the store and went to open the rear gate the van stopped and will not crank now. If you turn the key all the instrument lights flash but will not start. If you use the remote to try and start it you will get a message that says remote start will not work need to reset with key. My daughter said when my wife came out of the store and opened the rear gate the little triangles on the mirrors flashed and then the van shut down.

 

Probably all to do with the CAN data bus. Your vans electronic modules use it to communicate with each other. Really need specialized equipment to troubleshoot it but if you want to tackle it I would disconnect the rear lift gate lock mechanism and see if that does anything.
