Default 2015 town amen country cold start whine

Hello. I am new to a 2015 TC with 58000 miles. It is making a power steering type whine/moan when it starts cold. Once warmed up it is quiet as a mouse. Has anyone else had this problem and if so what was wrong?! Thanks!

Is it a diesel by any chance? And do you have an indicator light on the dash that looks like 3 wavey lines when it makes this noise? And it only happens on a cold morning/cold weather? And your engine temperature gauge shows less than 1/4?

Sounds like the webasto diesel heater used to warm the engine coolant up quicker during a cold morning/start to get the cabin temperature up quicker.

Hi Thistledew,

If you decide to take your vehicle to a Chrysler dealership let me know if you would like me to follow up with them for you!

Next opportunity you have, ask a friend to start the car for you while you stand by with the hood open. See if you can determine where the noise is coming from. The power steering pump is on the passenger (right) side of the engine. If it's from the other side, it could be the transmission. Low or improper fluid could be the culprit.
