You may be better off starting a new thread as threads that branch can get a bit confusing.
The windscreen wipers are interesting. To confirm I'd suggest setting up a camcorder pointing at the vehicle over night and seeing if through some wiring fault the wipers do in fact come on, failing that you could stay up all night staring at the wipers!
