Below freezing won't start, but runs
. I have his van , a 2008 Chrysler Town and country. And I know it's not the best car to have. But my only option for now to get around.
The van was running yesterday. But today being weather in burbs of Chicago in the zeros , it wouldn't start this morning. I put a little oil in it and the computer seems maybe frozen. I know Chrysler sucks because of this. The vehicle turns on but van won't start at all.
I'm wondering if I wait another day -weather is less freezing that it may run or should call for a jump start and take it to the local repair shop if need be.
I used to own a Chrysler car and it worked better than the van. Just put oil in it and it ran like a truck.
Gas is below half and there is enough oil.

Does the engine turn over? What is the age/condition of the battery? May be beneficial to have the battery and charging system tested.
Confused over the statements, put a little oil in it and the computer seems maybe frozen - what oil was added and where? Computers don't freeze up but do not work well if the battery is failing and not putting out enough volts.

Van turned on but won't start. Maybe needs a jump start? The dashboard showed a starter icon was red and the check engine light bright. The other icons were dull on the dashboard.
I'll call the mechanic tmrrw. Hopefully a jump start will do it.

Could battery have drained if the sliding door was open a crack? The sliding doors on the van always are frozen during this weather. I checked this morning and got a notice on dashboard a door has been opened. But it was not open but maybe a crack, being that doors were frozen shut. I did push door in that was open a crack.
I read that stalling and not starting up might be a bad TIPM.

my chyrsler GV 2007 2.8crd has the problem every winter, I think glow plugs are dead and cant supply enough warmness for this engine to start. I just bought a portable jump starter for 50 euros instead of investing on glow plugs.
Van worked after new battery installed. The previous battery was from the local Chrysler shop over 4 years ago. I guess it didn't last longer than expected. Have a two year warranty Interstate battery now.
