Default Door adjustment...

Hi all,

My wife had the misfortune of the wind blowing the drivers door out of her hand this morning.

When it is closed now the top of the door does not close properly and we are getting wind noise

The top of door seems to be be proud of the roof by about 5 - 10mm.

Has anyone else had this problem and is the door easy enough to adjust or could the hinges be bent?

Sounds like either or both the door frame or body upright box section is buckled outwards due to door flying open....You'll need a body shop to sort that, or a bit hammer action after removing door.

- I've watched terrified on many occasions while a 'body-shop' wallah puts his boot on the bottom and yanks with all his 25 stone on the top
- and the door miraculously springs back into line with prefect 'gapping'

Not as terrifying when doing it yourself.

I've done this to a couple of my cars with great success. A little bit of elbow grease and a couple minutes of your time and you can bring your door gap back to perfect.

They do that all the time in "American Hotrod" (They're still showing repeats on Quest)

bodywork is not really my forte, but a good yank on the top of the door will probably pull it back to shape.

- I've seen a few Voyagers with an out of line front door
- .. .. but is it ?
- if you look down the roof line it plays tricks with your brain
- its not the front / top / out, but the rear top in ..........
- in fact the back slider is pulled in too far by a good 1/4"

So the front door is ok - its the 8mm locator peg in the back door that has been moved and needs to be readjusted to bring it back in to tolerance with the roof line. Most often this issue is accompanied by a noticeable onset of wind noise at spped from the slider in question.
