Default Fuel additives

Does anyone have any thoughts or experience on the use of fuel additives? I'm thinking of Redex, who do an additive which (they claim) cleans the fuel injection system on a diesel, but there are also others such as STP.

I have had very good results with all of them. They all pretty much have the same ingredients mostly a mix of petrol and paraffin. The blue redex bottle says to use half every fill up but I use the full bottle every 3000 miles. Certainly makes a big difference in smooth running, starting and smoke reduction under acceleration. Much cheaper than taking your injectors out and having them redone.

Thank you GP :-)

Used redex now for the last 1200 miles or so. I seem to notice blue smoke from the exhaust now as I start up (maybe I just didn't notice it before), but it disappears after I've let it idle for a short while.

Fuel consumption has improved slightly - getting around 43mpg on a steady motoryway run instead of 41mpg - saves about £2 per 10 gallon fill, just about pays for the redex so not bad.
