It will go off after a few good starts. The codes will remain in memory but the lamp is unlit once certain faults have cleared

Update.. I changed the fuel filter which was black a messy, it ran fine for about 3 days and then started chugging again after hitting 2000 rpm.

Have a look at the filter and see if it's clogged again. If so, then drain the tank, drop it and flush it out with some petrol

Or join Green Fkag and tell them you've filled up with the wrong fuel and they will flush your tank for free! Can't remember if the OP said ut was a 2.5 or 2.8L oil burner! Doesn't the 2.5 have a filter in the tank as well?... Not sure

HiYa TimmyTim, the RG's are here, the 2.5L/2.8 TURBO DIESEL are in the same pdf under Section 9a. Sorted !
