Maximum tongue weight rating for 2002 Town & Country
I have a 2002 Town & Country that I bought used, it was not equiped with a tow package. I am attempting to install a hitch receiver in order to equip the vehicle with a hitch carrier for my motorcycle (this is the hitch carrier I am purchasing https://www.discountramps.com/smc-600-motorcycle-hauler/p/SMC-600R/). I have found a hitch receiver with a 500 lb tongue weight rating, but the receiver manufacturer said to find out what the max tongue weight allowable for my vehicle is. I checked my owners manual, and it lists the max tow weight (3,600 lbs) but does not give the max tongue weight. I need to find out for sure what that max weight is. The combined weight of my motorcycle (446lbs curb weight) and the hitch carrier (47 lbs) is 500 lbs , and I want to make sure that the Town & Country is capable of supporting that.
I have had an 03 and 2 04 T&C's all 3.8 motored, tongue weight is 350 MAX Your motorcycle and its carrier are too much weight to hang just away from the bumper and strength of the mounting bolts of the hitch would be stressed it badly. Even with trailer package suspension the rear leaf springs would be maxed and rear riding "bottomed out".
Now if trailered the tongue weight would be greatly decreased and would easily handle you motorcycle.

To begin with I agree with REBEL59< I'd be thinking about a trailor.
As a general rule max tongue weight is normally no more than 10% of the vehicles max tow rating. So at 3600 Ibs that would be 360 Ilbs. My 3.3 with factory tow package is stamped 160KG which is approximately 358Ibs.
