Dead Tachometer.

No codes showing.

Every thing else is nominal.

Few days back I noticed the ODO and shift lever indicator at the bottom of the inst cluster were flickering slightly.

Yesterday morning it stuck the key in ignition, turned it to crank position - NADA - DEAD. Pulled it out with a few choice words.
Stick it back in and it cranked and started just fine....
? ? ? ?

The tachometer is deadern' a door nail 3 days now.
Every thing else is steady and nominal.

Suggestions?

 

The tach needle is wound hard up against the peg -as if the engine was turning 'bout 14,00 rpm!

 

press the trip reset and hold put key in ign and turn the key to on POS then after a few seconds the cluster should go into a self diog mode and will sweep all the needles around back to correct way.

And with the word reset in my search(s) I discovered a whole host of info in the forum. That was my lack - the effective term required -that I didn't have for the context.
