Over filled oil damage
I recently purchased a 2014 town and country from a dealership it would shake in idle until eventually the check engine light came on. I had it diagnosed at a shop and they found a misfire in cylinder 4. Upon further inspection they found oil had leaked and caused the issue. They fixed leaks replaced plugs so on and discovered that the oil had been over filled by several quarts causing the issue. I confronted the dealership who performed the last oil change and they claim that this is impossible for this engine type can anyone shed light on my situation
u actually think if a tech accidentally put in 7 or 8 qts they would put that down on the invoice ? ! come on man
if you have never worked at a dealer or at a shop the parts department are the ones that give out the oil. so if your guy puts in 7 or 8 quarts in he would need to be really bad at his job. You cant really accidentally open 8 quarts of oil and put it in. Even from the reals they are usually monitored When i used them you put 5 on the dial and it spits out 5 so kinda hard to do. Where was this oil leaking from ? into the spark plugs? that would be spark plug tube seals which new oil can get by them because its thinner and does not have all the junk to float around it in. This is why you never do an engine flush it will cause more issues then solve. But back to your original thing no over filled oil will still not cause what you experienced. when you get to the 10 plus quart range the engine will not spin over
