Petrol got finnished, refuelled, now car cant start!!!
Hi everyone, I have a 1996, 2,4L chrysler se. Car has been working real fine untill yesterday when I ran out of petrol. I refuelled with 8 liters petrol hoping this will take me to the filling station to add more. Engine starts and go off all the time. Tried for over 1 hour, still the same thing!!!! what should I do? now the car has been towed home and still the same problem what could be wrong!!! please kindly help me....
I had this problem with my manual Chrysler when I ran out of fuel, the only way I could get it going again was to tow start it. I towed it with the ignition on and put it into second gear, let the clutch out and it eventually started,,,
Good luck
Good luck
When you attempt to start the car the fuel pump runs for 2 seconds to pressurize the system then turns off until the engine is running. I suggest that you turn the ignition on and off many times to get the system up to operating pressure.
Hi everyone, thanks a lot for your contributions. I eventually got it moving again by spraying a "Start gas" in the air intake of the engine...i.e., by disconnecting the big air pipe from the air filter to the engine and spraying the gas (3 - 4 short sprays) and vuala! the engine started at once. Thanks again for your contributions!!!!! This is a great site... Love you guys!!!! bye!!
