the power lift tailgate has never worked since i brought the car . when i press the button on fob\inside car i hear the beeps then a click sound then after about 5sec another click . the boot fails to lift ... also i can only open the boot if i use the key by turning it ... if i try and us the release button all i get is chiming sound .

any help would be apreciated

Lube the latch with a good lube. if you can pull the gate down easily with little to no resistance replace the lift props.the gate is heavy and the motor is small and needs all the help it can get to lift it.

the motor doesnt seam to kick in at all ?

 

Check the fuse and the wire connector! If all else fails get a motor off Ebay mate

 

There is a module right where the motor is. this determines if the gate is open or closed this could be bad. these are a pain in da *** to repair. if you hear a beeping sound then you are getting power back to the motor. when mine quit in the winter i just went to the salvage yard and bought the whole thing as a unit and installed it.
