Power Tailgate problem on 2002 Voyager
When I bought my 2002 Voyager a month ago the power tailgate worked fine, then it stopped working completely. I have been reading a about a couple of similar problems on this forum so on Friday I sprayed WD40 all around and In the latch, then I could get it to automatically close when I pressed the button but it would still not lift up, you got the first click when it through the tailgate out but no motor to lift it.
After a couple of hours I tried it again and it worked open and closed many times, but today its back to closing but not opening.
I think its the latch and I wondered if I removed it from the tailgate stripped and cleaned it if that would work ?.
Thanks

Proper diagnosis requires a scan tool, and monitoring of the switch positions in the latch...WD40 and lubricants may be a temporary fix...But the latch must be changed if any of the switches are defective.
