rear heater not heating
Hi guys. Now the cold is here I've noticed that the rear headlining vents don't give out any heat. When the temp is low they give out ice cold air con, but when its high they just give out unheated air. I've not checked any other rear vents I'm not sure whats what.
The front is fine although the drivers side temp has to be set much higher than the passenger side to give out same amount of heat (ie 25 to passengers 21).
I've got the rear trim out while I fit my tow bar and found a big blower so thought I'd sort it out while I'm there.
It has 2 pipes coming to it through the floor I'm guessing air con and engine coolant for heat? If so I guess I need to see if that pipe gets hot for starters. Any pointers greatly appreciated
BTW its a 2005+ 3.3 petrol auto and has 3 way climate control (a middle dial for rear off, auto, rear control and then a control unit on the rear headlining).
Thanks

On my 2003 there is an electrical motor that moves a damper to route the fan air through the heater core. Maybe this has come unplugged or the motor is not working. You would have to remove the rear unit to figure this out.
Not at all sure how the 4th generation rear HVAC units are configured but on 3rd gens there is a hole about midpoint on the unit you can observe the rotation of the actuator shaft through. Adjust the driver's temp (again 3rd gen) and see if the shaft rotates. The actuator is mounted on the outboard side of the unit and can be changed without pulling the whole HVAC unit out (yup, 3rd gen again).
