Default sweeping dials

my dials are sweeping everytime i turn ignition,checked bat without engine running 14v,with engine running 16v,so there is plenty of power.what else should i look at?

For one thing, that 16 volts is too high. Tray another meter. If it's still bad you may have alternator or PCM problem. The voltage regulator is in the PCM circuitry.

Yeah, I think that meter is over reading by at least 2 volts. 12v stopped and 14v(ish) with engine running would be the figure you would expect.

A fully charged and rested 12v lead acid battery should be reading about 12.65V. So if it were only 12v after a full charge then it probably needs replacing.

i am hearinga wierd click around the belt area,could that maybe be the volt regulator?
