Hi guys, just fitted a new battery in my 2002 2.5CRD voyager, took it out for a quick spin and the engine management light came on and the car also went into limp mode, stop for a few mins and the light was still on but it was driving normal. Had the bonnet open whilst I was changing the battery and it was raining pretty heavy any chance a bit of water could be the culprit ?

Hi i did the key dance. The code that was shown was P010.0?

 

P0100 is the Mass Air Flow sensor.
Time to get a multi meter out and check some of the voltages.

It will report a fault if the reference voltage is below 4.8 or 5.2V (but most likely other items would report faults if that was the case)

It will report a fault if the sensor voltage is less than 0.2V or above 4.5V

It will also report a fault if the sensor voltage does not match what it expects given the current engine load, this can be the hardest to diagnose as it may not be the MAF, eg an air leak in the intake system can cause this.

I'll ulpoad the MAF connector details later

Thanks for that Richard, would this also cause the car to into limp mode? for a brief spell yesterday it had minimal power and then it came back, been fine since?
