Default 1991 new yorker 3.3l radiator fans /fans

Have an overheating issue. It overheats because fans or not coming on.
If I jump pins 30 and 87 on relay box, fans spin up and temp drops extremely fast.

I replaced the 2 wire temp switch.

some interesting things.

1. Air conditioner does not come on when pressing AC switch. So fans don't come on.

2. If I disconnect 2 wire coolant temp switch, the check engine light comes on, but the fans still don't come on. But as I understand, they are supposed to turn on when that connector is disconnected.

3. With both fan connectors and relay disconnected, I get following.

If I put meter on continuity and place red prob into black wire pin on either fan connector and place black probe on any car ground I hear beep.

If I place red probe into green wire pin on either fan connector and black probe to any ground I hear NO beep, as expected.

If I move black probe to pin 87 on relay box, I hear a beep, as I would expect.

Here's where it gets strange to me.

If I plug one of the fan connectors to fan(doesnt matter which one). So red probe is still connected to pin that green wire is at, now if I touch black probe to any ground I HEAR A BEEP.

If I disconnect fan the beep goes away.

the fans are 2 wire, and tied together. So no hi and low speeds.

Any ideas anyone.

thanks

Douglas
