Default 1996 Concorde P0140 code

Hi,

I'm new to the forum. I have a question. I scanned my car and got a code of P0140, which I deciphered as Downstream O2S Stays at Center. Is that correct and what does it mean -- that is what do I have to replace.

Thank you for your help.
Scott

that 02 sensor It means the 02 is not switching back and forth like it should so it stays at center.

Does this mean I need to replace the two O2 sensors behind the catalytic converter? What do these sensors do (polution control only)? Is this a job for a handyman?

Thanks,
Scott

yep the 02 behind the cat . The sensor gives the computer the info needed to make fuel time adjustments to ge the car back to 14.7 to 1 ratio. Basicly u need them.

One last question if you would please, what is the torque value on these O2 sensors?

Thanks Again,
Scott

I just got to down to replacing the oxygen sensors, haven't put them in yet. The car is running rough and I now get an additional code of P301 (cylinder 1 misfire). Could this be caused by the oxygen sensors code P140 or is this likely a different issue?

Thanks,
Scott
