P0430 Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2)
#2
The "catalytic converter efficiency" code comes on when the computer detects that the cat converter is deteriorating. If those converters are 10 years old, they have a right to be deteriorating.
Bank 1 is the bank with cylinder #1 in it. That's usually the right-hand or rear bank. Bank 2 is the other one.

Similar P0430 code on a 2.7L Sebring (with 110k miles)
RE: 2005 Chrysler Sebring convertible, 2.7L-V6 with 110,000 miles.
It is a transverse mounted engine; so is bank two on the front of the vehicle (where cylinder #2 is)? That seems to be what is indicated.
(I posted a new thread on this because I also have this problem with this (P0430) code.)

If it's not bank 1 then it must be bank 2, right? This code is set when the ratio between the signal from the upstream O2 sensor and the downstream sensor gets out of whack. It could be caused by a bad catalytic converter, but it could also be caused by replacing a downstream sensor without replacing the upstream sensor so that one is old and one is new. If they haven't aged together, the ratio could be off. A leak in there somewhere could also cause the ratio to be off.
Eliminate the possibility of the cheap things before you replace the expensive things. If it turns out that the cat has gone bad, look for a cause. (Cylinder missing on that side or something.) They usually last more than 4-5 years.

P0430 Code (bank 2)
I have another thread dealing with the P0430 code issue. I left this thread from the originator for identifying which side is bank #2. Is it agreed that bank two is on the front of the vehicle or left side of the engine (and bank one is toward the firewall)? Please answer yes or no.
dcotter0579: As for the reason for the P0430 code, would you please read my other thread dealing with that code and respond in that thread? (You will find that I HAVE changed both catalytic converters and all four O2 sensors, but still getting the P0430 code (catalyst efficiency). The exhaust was checked for leaks; none found, and the engine is running very well.)
