voyager starting issue

Default voyager starting issue

my friend has a 1998 voyager and it has a weird fault when you try to start it the starter motor won't engage evry time it may take ten to twenty goes for it to engage otherwise it just spins we have tried new starter new battery just not sure what it could be any ideas would be greatly appreciated

did you check the ring gear when you had the starter out?

yes ring gear was checked it was passed fit for use was wondering if it was an electrical thing maybe immobiliser

It may be that the starter gear is not aligned with the flywheel and thus not able to engage regularly. This usually occurs as a result of bent parts or cracked mounts or hardware.
