i checked all the ground straps as well as the the power wires from the ignition switch. Just in case. there are two wires coming off distributor a blue one and i blk w white tracer. which one goes on (+) and which one goes on (-). Then there are two coming from a wire loom. A dark blue with red tracer and a black with yellow tracer. which one goes to (+) and which one goes to (-). the wire diagram i was going off of had a few wires of different colors. not to clear. thank you

I do not know which of those wires goes where as I do not have access to a wiring diagram for your car. I can tell you, that generally speaking, it is automotive practice that power comes through red wires, ground through black wires. The tracers are to distinguish individual sources, like switches and fuses for the power and ground.
There is a chance that a wiring diagram for your car could be found at 12volt.com but that site is more focused toward stereos and things like that.
Make sure that the distributor you are trying to install really is for your car. The discrepancy in the colors of the wiring could be a clue that it is not the right part.
