Default 2004 Sebring: Windshield wiper & washer run continuously

I wonder if anyone has run into this weird issue...the windshield washer pump and wiper motor run continuously on my cousin's '04 Sebring. I thought it might be a relay that was stuck on but I switched out both the wiper On/Off and High/Low relays. Didn't make a difference. I'm thinking that it must be the control switch. Does anyone out there have any suggestions?

Disconnect the switch. If the problem stops, replace the switch. The multi function switch is readily available on the aftermarket.
If the problem doesn't stop, then it's a wiring problem.

The next time I have access to the vehicle, I'll check that out. Before I go digging into it, can you advise where the connection is for the switch? Is it under the dash or hidden inside the steering column covers? Thanks

The switch is located under those covers on the steering column. If I remember rightly, you'll need a torx driver to remove the screws. Once you're in there its easy and obvious to get it out.

I got access to the vehicle again. Disconnected the wiring to the switch and the wipers/washer pump both stopped. I have a new multifunction switch on order.

Rockauto got the switch to me in a couple days. Got it installed and everything is back to normal. Thanks for your help Dcotter0579.

FYI, I called the local Chrysler shop...the multifunction switch was out of production but was >$400. The partsman said he could get me a jobber unit from the west coast for about $170. Local wreckers wanted $70 for a used switch. I got a new unit imported from Rockauto, with shipping, exchange, etc. costing me $67.30.

Good work. Tell the dealer you'll be happy to supply them at $200. (Actually, he probably orders them from Rockauto and soaks his customers for the difference.) Anyway, come back when you finish the job and let us know how it came out.
