Default Need Help Sebring Oil Pressure Question

Hello,

I’m rendlty bought a 2005 Sebring Convertible with110,000 miles for my 19 year old college student daughter. When it starts the oil pressure gauge reads up to 75lbs of pressure. After two hours on the highway the pressuregoes down to 20lbs of pressure. Is thisnormal? Thank you

As the oil heats up, it is likely to thin out a bit, which will result in lower oil pressure reading. If you've got 20 psi at idle, that's plenty. Make sure you are using the oil recommended in the owners manual and that it is changed at the proper interval. If you don't have an owners manual you can download one from chrysler.com.

i have a 2005 also, 2.4 DOHC. Since you bought it used with that many miles, you might want to pull the pan and check the oil pump. I change my oil on a regular basis as recommended. I had a pan gasket leak and when the mechanic dropped the pan, the oil pump was almost completely clogged. I'm happy he caught it before something major happened. The car has about 98,000 miles.
