Default Seatbelt Chime

Seatbelt chime
I have a 2004 2.7L Chrysler Sebring convertible. Once I put it in gear, the seatbelt chime sounds a set of five chimes, 12 times in a row. That's a total of 60 chimes EVERY time I put it in gear and start moving! The driver's-side seatbelt chime is disabled (by turning on the ignition, buckling and unbuckling the seatbelt three times in 10 seconds and turning the ignition off) and the passenger seat is empty when it does this. I've disconnected both driver- and passenger-side seatbelt sensors to no avail. Can someone please tell me how I can fix this!? Cuz it's starting to drive me a little nuts! Any info anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated.I have a 2004 2.7L Chrysler Sebring convertible. Once I put it in gear, the seatbelt chime sounds a set of five chimes, 12 times in a row. You haven't stated whether you are actually buckling the seatbelt around you to drive the car. If you are driving the car without the belt properly buckled around you, you are taking your life in your hands, especially in a convertible.

I assumed that it'd be a given.....my bad. Everyone in the has their seat-belt on, but the chime still sounds 60 TIMES every time I start it up and get rolling.

"I've disconnected both driver- and passenger-side seatbelt sensors to no avail."

Try replacing the sensors (Probably will require replacing the belts.) Disconnecting the sensors is probably telling the computer that the belts are unbuckled.

Default sensors

Can you tell me if the seat-belt sensors are simple switches or something more complex? Can I check them with an ohmmeter?

The way I interpret the wiring diagram, it's a switch, with a light green/red wire leading to it and a black wire leading from it. Of course, it's connected to a "controller" which is basically a "black box" on the wiring diagram, which means it's a computer-controlled device whose logic is not spelled out. So there could be something wrong with that component. Good luck.

Hey I fixed the chime problem. I pulled the chime module from the BCM circuit board. I still have the flashing seat-belt light, but it flashes in SILENCE! Thank you for your help.
