Default Newbie, shifter lock issue

New to the group, maybe this has been addressed before. I purchased a 2005 Chrysler 300 a month ago and the gear shifter won't move out of park. The pink plastic Transmission Shift Interlock Latch module is fine, the spring attachment point is intact. Pushing the pink BTSI override switch allows me to get out of park. Could the problem lie with the ignition switch not sending the signal that the key is installed or perhaps the brake pedal not sending the signal that the pressure is applied? The brake lights illuminate when the pedal is down. Appreciate any input that can be provided.
