If so, he'll replace the rocker arm assembly if the extended warrant company (Fidelity) will agree. Anyone have any idea if this pin tightening is a real solution? The car is under warranty for about another 10K miles, so I obviously want to solve this problem permanently before it expires. Be interested to hear from anyone who knows if the dealer's approach makes sense.
Dealing with an aftermarket warranty is a bit different. Think of them as a cheap @ss relative...lol. I would want the rocker assemblies on mine.

We just purchased a used 36,000 miles 2010 Chrysler 300 and had the same problem. It started with the clicking noice then went to a dead miss. The chrysler dealer says the # 5 valve is stuck. Still in shop.

An update to my original post. The dealer kept the car for five days and tightened something (no real explanation) rather than replacing the rocker shaft assembly. My after market warranty wouldn't pay for this "adjustment" so I was stuck with a $100 deductable. The dealer picked up whatever was left over that amount. I've driven the car another 2,000 miles and the noise was quieter for a while and now is just like before. I'm trying to decide if a fight with the warranty company is worth the effort. Probably is, so I expect I'll take it back yet again.

Default Lifters on Chrysler 300 touring

I have also heard a ticking sound when I first start up. I took it to the dealer and they told me it could be the lifters due to it being cold. If the problem continues once it get hot to bring it back in and they would change the lifters. Like i said its only a noise when I first start up but once the car heats up the noise goes away well rather the ticking sound does.

Sounds like the problem I have with mine which is a grand voyager 3.3ltr 97model with 156000 miles on it. It was handed down to me from the mother in-law an I must say I love it apart from this noise which sounds like yours. Been told it might be the lifters but I'm not sure. Did an oil and filter change a couple of wks ago as don't think it had been done for a while. It made this slight noise before but got worse after the oil change. I used the correct oil so know that's not the problem. Maybe it likes running on old dirty oil lol. It is driving me mad though. Got it booked in next wk an maybe I'll find out more. Anymore help from anyone would be great.

I'm sorry to bump an old thread .I've read through it all, and JUST got off the phone with Chrysler. If course, the took the last 8 of my VIN and gave me all my recalls. The airbags, yes I know. I asked to speak to a higher up about the engine noise, and she then asked me questions related to the problem. Her advice is; to go to the dealer tomorrow and to have them 'listen' to the noise that is being created .I'm almost 100% confident that this is the infamous lifter tick. I did not buy my car from the Chrysler dealer, but from a third party. My next door neighbor who is a good friend of mine actually works in the shop of said Chrysler dealer. I'm going to go in tomorrow just for gratification that it's the lifter.

Calling Chrysler did not help. They gave me the simple run around package: here's your recalls and we have nothing documented about this symptom. I made sure she had my VIN and would promise her it will be well documented .

Love this site. Yall are a huge help.
