2008 Aspen Brake Shields - Fronts? buy from where?
Have been going through brakes and suspension on my 2008 Aspen. Rear Brake Dust shields are shot and have let water and salt in and destroyed the parking brake shoes, etc. The rears seem readily available in the aftermarket and share with Ram 1500s. The fronts show NLA from Chrysler. RH Part#52010492AD / LH Part#52010493AD
My front shields are rusting and have "some" missing metal on the bottom edge but are reasonable serviceable. They are also not as crucial as the rears for protection. I am afraid to pull the front hub bearings, just for test fitting, for fear they will not survive and then I would have to replace them as well. I however suspect that they will fail during my ownership as there is already 146K on the clock. When that happens, I would want to replace those shields.
Has anybody found an aftermarket solution or other fitment for the front brake shields / backing plates from another Mopar?
The front caliper and rotor are the same for 2009/10 Ram 1500 trucks. The hub/wheel bearing as well as the knuckle show different part numbers & fitment though they look to be the same in design. The wheel bearing has a 3 bolt flange, same as Aspen/Durango. The Ram 1500 front brake shields are readily available as a pair from Dorman part#924-684 for around $50. The Mopar part numbers show available as well RH part#68232018AA / LH Part#68232019AA
Any thoughts on "IF" the Ram 1500 shields might fit? The shield diameter would be the same since the rotor is the same part#, the spacing for the caliper should be the same as the caliper is the same part# AND With caliper and rotor dimensions matching, I would think spacing from the knuckle would match as well. Perhaps the front hub bearing is different because of axle differences and spline counts?
