Default Blowing hot air

Hey all, from SC!!!
I have had the "A/C blowing hot air" syndrome for about 4 months now and spent almost $600 for mechanics to say "ummm, maybe its this, maybe its that..." UGGGGHHHH!!!
Ok, first shope: use dye, found out a seal or two were loose/ dry rotted. Fixed them. 2 days later- no more cold again. SAME shop (again) found out they "put something in wrong" redid the work and recharged the Freon- half price. days later wife notices NO cold air again. THIRD person (different shop) says the condenser is out- will be about $1100- 1200 parts and labor. Find another Mechanic (from church) and he thinks since the digital temps are able from 50 degrees to 90 degrees, on the HVAC unit, that it is the whole unit.
Now I am VERY confused and its about to be summer and the windows don't cool it off enough. Anyone have ideas or help or same/ past situations.....
Thank you in advance,
Sweating in South Cack-o-la-kee!!!
