Default 2005 T&C Liftgate Issue

My lift gate will open with the fob, overhead console switch or key in the lock. However, it will not open if I push the switch (handle) on the lift gate. Since the handle is an electrical part, is there anything I should look for before I just run out and just buy a switch?

If you could locate the plug, I'd think you could use a meter set to ohms and see if, when you press it, the reading changes.

This switch?

You could try plugging and unplugging it first. It's fairly inexpensive. Dorman makes one also.

If that is the one above the license plate, then yes. And if anyone sees this within the next 14 hrs, what size is the Torx screw head. The largest I have is a 20 and the 2 screws at the switch are bigger.

I just got the switch in the mail. And yes the original was broken when I took it out last week for inspection. My only question is, when I take it out, will the green and brown wires come out of the grommet enough for me to swap out or do I have to take a panel off from the inside? I forgot to check that far once I found the switch to be broken.

Update: Success! Yes the interior trim panel on the liftgate must come off. I would recommend removing it before removing the handle from the outside. It was fairly easy. The hardest part was disconnecting the harness, I am never quite sure how to unlock them, each one locks so different. By doing the harness first, you can take the handle off of the liftgate and bring it to a workbench to remove the wires from the harness (another type of lock) and the switch from the handle. Whole job should take about 45 minutes. For me the worst part was removing the old wires from the harness. That lock was the worst.
