Not sure what's meant by "Cool" light. Can you describe what happens clearer. Like doesn't start. Needs to be turned over long time before starts. Cuts out under power. Etc.

Apologies for my spelling I meant coil light as with a diesels we wait till this goes off to start the engine. It turns over but doesn't Fire up and occasionally it turns over then seems like it's going to cut out then starts hope this is clearer also if the light is on 9 times out of 10 it starts

the coil light is the glowplug light.

I take it you mean that if the glowplug light is lit it will start (probably) and if you wait until the light goes out it won't start?

that's very odd then. Can't think why more glow would make starting harder. I don't think the ECU adjusts fueling and timing post glow phase, and even then the glow plugs are running even after the light goes out and the engine has started.

Sorry, can't be of any help. But I'll have a think and see if anything comes to mind.

Richard

Thanks Richard.

Its a very strange issue and has been present since i had the car a year ago. The garage where i had it from said there where no issues with it and started every time then when i got it back it did the same thing. I know it startes when the Glow light is on but just annoying that it doesnt start how it should.

It's like the Glowplug relay is cutting the power to the injection pump when light goes out. But light is going to go out anyway so its not that.

might be worth putting a multi meter on the glowplugs to see if there is a voltage change when the light goes out. You can also measure the voltage to the Fuel Control Actuator on the IP (this is a PWM signal but a meter will still read a voltage that's dependant on the duty cycle.)

I don't think these will show anything odd, but at least they could be eliminated
