Default Help needed

Need help with a 2009 Chrysler T&C with 83,000 miles. After long drives the car would not start after shopping for 2 hours or staying overnight at a hotel. After towing the car back (flat bed) the car would start and drive off the truck. Local mech. replaced starter, TIPM and reprogrammed the keys with help from local dealer. Also the engine will cut off while driving and this has happened at speeds ranging from 5 to 45 mph but more frequently around curves or as slowing for a red light. What could it be?

Any electrical problems besides the stalling?

2009s had a recall for the power sliding door wire harnesses shorting against the frame causing a potential fire hazard. Could be related because the CAN data bus wire runs through that harness and can potentially cause stalling. It's usually accompanied by the instrument cluster going nuts. That why I asked the above question.

2010s had a recall for stalling caused by a bad WIN module. That's your ignition switch.

Is it Diesel or Petrol...Sounds like the dreaded lack of fuel pressure issue, in relation to air getting into fuel filter or rail pressure sensor. Cam/crank sensor maybe. But first get fault codes read.

I went with petrol. He says "drive off the TRUCK", not "lorry". Puts him in the USA. No diesels here. That works if calling a truck a lorry in the UK is a hard and fast rule. Is it?

Hey NorthFork,
Is it petrol or diesel. Are you having any other driveability problems? And when you say the vehicle would not start do you mean engine turned over but did not fire up; or engine would not turn over at all?
The focus on starter motor and key fob suggests it would not turn over?

If you are able, check to see if there are any stored codes in the engine management system (see separate posting about OBDII codes if you don't know how to do that).
From your description of intermittent cutting out and hot start problems, it sounds like an engine management function failing - so possibly a sensor that is showing early signs of dying (temperature related) or a wiring problem...both tricky to find without some more clues.
Running the engine and wiggling wire connectors at the main sensors is a cheap and easy thing to try.
Good luck with it - let us know what the result is.
