Hi Qinteq, have a look at this....

http://www.pvv.org/~syljua/merc/TooSeptST07.pdf

I'd value your opinion on this discussion about alternator hash and its effect on electronic systems various.

I've also made a little plug-in charge checker to insert in the cigar lighter using a 12v. zener, a silicon diode and a hi-bri red LED. It has revealed the alternator output is far from smooth, by constantly flickering which it didn't when I put it together in the workshop using my workshop's battery. Hence the interest in alternator hash as above. It just dawned on me that a DVM or analog meter wouldn't show this voltage instability (sample and hold effect in the DVM, mechanical inertia in the coil and needle in the analog).
I'll post a piccy and circuit on here if you want.

Default Here is the LED voltage/charge checker as promised.

This is set for 14.4volt charging, if the system is still on the lower voltage, just eliminate the silicon diode. If you like a green LED also eliminate this diode as the firing voltage for green is higher; but the red is more efficient.
