Powered Tailgate Opens but doesn't close displays function disabled

2009 Mk 5 Town and Country (Grand Voyager) Powered Tailgate opens but when selection button on fob, overhead console button or tailgate close button the dash shows a message function disabled, anyone got any idea how to re-enable?

First thing to try is the "fix all" trick of disconnecting the negative lead from the battery. Leave it off for 15 minutes then re-connect it.

solution?

my started working again when i pushed the hatch closed and then opened it manually
